What is AI content strategy?
AI content strategy is content planning for a world where your words are read by people, indexed by search engines and interpreted by large language models, often on the same day.
It defines what you publish, why, for whom and how it's structured, so every piece builds authority on the topics that matter to your business. It also covers how content gets made: editorial frameworks that let your team use AI to scale production without losing the expertise and originality that make content worth reading.
Why it matters now
Generic content weakens your authority.
The web is filling with AI-generated content that says the same things in the same ways. Search engines and AI models are responding by placing more weight on real experience, expertise and original insight, the qualities Google describes as E-E-A-T.
AI systems also favour sources that cover a topic comprehensively and coherently. A scattered blog won't do it. You need a deliberate content architecture that makes your expertise clear to people and to machines.
By the numbers
- Google's guidance on AI-generated content (February 2023) says it rewards high-quality content however it's produced. What it looks for is helpful, reliable, people-first content.
- Wikipedia, YouTube and Reddit are the sources most often cited in Google's AI summaries, according to Pew Research Center's study of 900 US adults' searches in March 2025. Detailed, well-structured reference content earns citations.
- More than 2 billion people a month now see AI Overviews, according to Google's July 2025 results, so content that can't be quoted is missing a large audience.

Frequently asked questions
What is E-E-A-T, and why does it matter for AI search?
E-E-A-T stands for Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness and Trustworthiness, Google's framework for assessing content quality. AI systems apply similar logic when choosing which sources to cite, so content that clearly demonstrates real expertise and credible sourcing is more likely to surface in both.
Will AI-assisted content hurt our search performance?
Not if it's done properly. Search engines care about quality and usefulness, not how content was produced. The real risk is generic, unoriginal content, so our frameworks keep human expertise and editorial judgement at the centre.
Do you write the content as well as the strategy?
We can. Some clients take the strategy and frameworks in-house; others ask us to produce content too. Either way, the strategy is designed to be executable by your team.
